Nice! I just got all my parts as well- but the pot I got for external trim is way bigger than the other ones (diff supplier)- hope it is not an issue. Working on layout ideas- woot- I'm thinking the one dead center. Will try to start building next week. Good luck!!

What is the switch on the bottom for? I have an original but it does not have a switch.

Looks like a fun flick- will have to check that out! Another excellent one is called Double Nickels.
As for the VP- I didn't know the general area was limited to madbean boards only. I've been looking at all the pages on the following thread at another forum and saw it at the bottom- http://www.diystompboxes.com/smfforum/index.php?topic=36392.5680

Cheers-

Any audio or video of a Vanishing Point in action?
Thx-

The wrist strap to computer chassis I think assumes the power supply is connected (3 prong grounded) which is connected to your house ground.

I am a freelance computer IT, and as far as I know when dealing with static you just need to touch a grounded conductive object before handling the parts. They also make wrist straps with a wire and alligator clip to keep yourself grounded (hah) I also used a static/radiation filter when I used to use a big CRT computer monitor- it had a wire and clip as well that you would attach to the computer chassis or other ground.

I also have to say in over 10 years of working I have never had an issue- just touching a grounded object first always seems to do the trick.

Hah, you used a 5k- I was going to order an extra one of those yesterday but removed it- I will have a 1k and 2k to experiment with. Also, I have been looking at every page of this thread (awesome stuff) and am wondering if I should socket anything like transistors or diodes to play with. I see a lot of other folks choose to socket stuff. What do you think?

Nice job. I just ordered the same enclosure today for a Macheen build. I have a Zombii that a guy built really well- def my fav pedal- I *really* love it- have fun!

Nice job. What pot did you use for the trim knob? Today I ordered the last parts I need for this build- I'm excited as it will be my first build. I ordered a 1k and a 2k so I could test and use either. Cheers!

Requests / Re: Ring Modulator
March 19, 2011, 10:31:50 PM
Howdy!

I was def not trying to imply I wanted to re-create the Line6 MM, just that I want to build a ring mod and maybe a few other things that I used the MM for. If I can combine 1 or 2 in a single enclosure I'd be open to that idea- anything is possible with DIY- that much i have seen!

I have a love/hate w those (MM, DL4) in that I love what they do and how easy they are but I hate what they do to the tone and how the use of the knobs just does not feel/act right to me. Oh and that they are DSP which crash just like computers from time to time!
Funny thing is I just now discovered it was the power supply and will be using the MM in a few hrs for a jam session. (using Voodoo pedal power supply)

In terms of what I am looking for in a ring mod- I guess just a high quality signal path with a good ring mod that has a wet/dry pot? I don't know much about them in terms of features and circuit design. As I mentioned I love being able to keep connected to the actual note I am playing while the ring mod is active. It is great for escalating the energy but without getting louder or employing more fuzz/od/dist.

Here is a pic of my current setup (mono until the stereo Deja Vibe- I use a pair of Tech21 amps in stereo)- and there is a gold Zombii that was built by forum member JakeFuzz (http://www.madbeanpedals.com/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=334)- it is my current fav pedal- totally inspiring- and he did an immaculate job on the build and is responsible for my new DIY addiction and upcoming Macheen build!
:)

Thanks!

Clifford

PS- here is the description of the ring mod in the MM- no idea if this is a standard design.
"Ring Modulator:
TWEAK adjusts the shape from sine to square wave. TWEEZ gives you a choice of modulation flavors – AM
(amplitude modulation), FM (frequency modulation), or somewhere in between."

Requests / Ring Modulator
March 19, 2011, 07:52:32 PM
I really enjoy ring modulators- esp set just enough so you can still really hear the note you are playing but with the added effect.
Anyone have any good ring modulator builds they could recommend?
My Line6 Modulation Modeler died (thank god) and I am looking to replace some of the things I liked in it.
Thanks

Wow- love both of these builds. I just got my pcb today from madbean- it's standard green though.  :)
In any event- this will be my first build and I am very excited.
Good to see you don't have to wire pots direct to the board. Also, I def want to put the trim pot on the exterior- but a 1K or a 2K? Anything else I might want to do like socket the transistors or anything? I know about the SHO switch- not sure if I will do that.
I love the one on this page with the giant black knobs-
http://freestompboxes.org/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=22&start=80

I already decided before to use the same black rainbow box- and I have a cool graphic in mind- just need to buy trim and enclosure and decide on layout!
