Just an update, replaced the vactrol that was giving me the funky resistance numbers and I have a great sounding Tremolo. Thanks Jon for the help.

Ahh the things we forget, it is sad

This made me remember from deep down in the crevices of my crusty decrepit brain, a toy. It was a submarine. You put soda powder into it and you played with it in the bathtub.  Can't remember what I had for breakfast but I can remember a toy from 67 years ago.
that is the the one I remeber too. that long ago for me also. Breakfast how about what was going on a hour ago.

I may very well have misused the Mini and Submini labels, since I tend to think of the Submini as Mini, haha.

Well, they are both mini but they make the others for use in submarines so hence the name.
I guess they're waterproof or sumthin...
Or or or, stay with me, because they're smaller than mini. I could be wrong, I've never been on a submarine.

So we are to assume you stopped playing with your boats and subs in the bathtub, AHH the little kiddos grow up too soon

Just socket the diodes and use your ears for the ones you like. Screw accuracy.
This. Sometimes you find oddball components with no markings, you put them in a circuit, and the clouds part with a ray of beautiful noise.
I agree and clouds part differently for every ones ears

thanks for the quick responce Brian. I am trying to order parts and came across the sub mini lable. I build out in the gagrge and don't have internet. I usualy don't need to look up most parts of your build docs and never use your hard work. Your sugestion is good advice. Thank you for doing my thinkng for me. See your brain is working just fine.

Just wondering when Brian and other builders spec mini switchs are they the ones listed as mini or sub mini. I know this sounds like a missing in action question but I see a few supplers listing sub mini switches besides mini switches. Is there a differance?

Thank you for the reply, I was going to try the removal of the vactrol. I also was going to pull out the binocular stereo microscope and do a good look at my work. I did socket the tranys so the trick with pulling #1 will be on the list after I try the first two. Thank you for the help, I was hoping you would see my question. Thanks again. I will let you know when I get done doing the winter prep on the house and yard in anticpation of the cold, snowy, long winters we get up here in Northern Minnesota near the Canadian border and I get back to the fun things, like playing guitar and building more pedals.

General Questions / Cardinal Tremolo V2 PCB
November 02, 2023, 09:56:53 AM
Just built a 1776 cardinal tremolo V2 and when I went to set the balance trim I had 1.2K ohms on Vac 2 and 39k on Vac 1. No matter how I adjusted the trim vac 2 never got over 1.4k and Vac 1 would go as high as 100k but only as low as 29k. When I disconected power to the circuit Vac 2 read 543 ohms. I looked the board over and It looks like everthing is the right parts. I get both bypass sound like I should and when I go for opical side I get a sitar like sound that my better half said sounded cool, but not what I am looking for.  Do I have a bad vactrol in the number 2 poistion. both vactrols where bought at the same time and the right numbers. I bought the works from 1776 effects( the  trimer, matched Tranys board, and optical switch kit) I bought the vactrols from them or small bear I forgot where. So do I have a bad vactrol?

Hefty, I am still rocking the 18W!  How are you finding your build?
Thanks for the suggestion, I have been largely ignorant of the the YATS family will check out he OD-855 :)

I really love the dual threat of having the EL84 or the 6V6 options. No matter my mood I find a tone I am looking for. I didn't use pedals with it for a couple of years, just so much fun, then I statred trying pedals with it and a whole new world opened up. So to answer your question: Loving it

Cory, you still rockin that 18 watt Trinity Amp with the scumbacks you built?

I had a BYOC 855 Drive pcb that I populated 5 years ago but never boxed up, or even tried to see how it sounded. It is like the Ibanez & Maxon OD-855.  I had given my tubescreaner clone to a friend  a couple of years ago because I stopped using it.  I had a friend asking if I could build him a Tube Screamer. I looked in mt project box to see if I had a TS board and saw the populated BYOC 855 board. I boxed it up. The more I used it the more I liked it. I an keeping it on the pedal board. Got to find something for the friend.  It does pretty much what you are looking for. I use it with the my Trinity 18 watt with the same scumbacks you recommened to me many years ago. Sorry to mention another bulders PCBs
