My wife sent me this:  ;D

Theory about connecting our feet to the earth to decouple our bodies.....

I did a rehouse for a friend of his signa drive / buddah and added a effect order switcher -  I bought PCBs from GuitarPCB tfor effect order switch which was definitely worth it.

General Questions / NO Vs NC tap signals
March 02, 2015, 09:20:26 AM
I have a tap tempo switch that sends a NO signal - is there a way I can translate that to NC? (meaning I want 1 tap to send NO and NC signal to 2 respective locations simultaneously.

General Questions / Voltage switching question
February 06, 2015, 09:03:15 AM
I have never used split rail power supplies before and I am working on something for a friend please let me know if this will work:

its a toggle between the 9v and 18v taps of the charge pump - the resistors are an attempt at blocking a pop when switched but I don't know if they are necessary or if they will not work at all

thanks

Open Discussion / Looking for a part
January 26, 2015, 12:41:36 PM
I just found this on a datasheet - alpha now has 9mm clear shaft pots (part# RV09BF-40E1-(L)FL)  its says "new" on the datasheet - I have no luck sourcing this part at mouser or jameco - anybody have any ideas on where this can be found or how long it takes for "new" parts to hit the US market?
Cheers

Build Reports / Bax box
December 25, 2014, 07:10:57 PM
I have been working with the 3 band bax tonestack paired with overdrive on the breadboard I and wanted something a little more portable for my testing purposes so I built this up:

The pink knobs are rotary switches toggling high pass filter at input, clipping diodes, and center frequency for mids respectively. There are level controls for each band as well as adjustable band"width" for each band. There is a toggle for the cap in feedback loop as well as a toggle between two different gain pot values and a headroom control adding adjustable resistance between diodes and signal. Overall it was a fun build I may still add a 3dpt toggle for effect bypass

Build Reports / Civic Crown OD
August 08, 2014, 02:15:34 PM
This was a very rewarding prototype build - OD circuit with 3 band tone control. The first set of PCBs suffered from the tone controls being backwards and too close to the gain and lvl controls. Regrets on the revision: wish I would have aligned my drilling so the footswitch pcb was not crooked, wish I would have socket-ed the IC.

Build Reports / 1590a boost
July 28, 2014, 07:22:14 PM
I'm calling this the F-117 Nighthawk Boost:
Circuit is basically CoT w/o clipping diodes....on second though crackle bias knobs aren't very stealthy....oh well.

Build Reports / Les Pedal

I collaborated with a local guitar builder for this one. Turned out just as I had hoped. Circuit is Transistor boost into MOSFET boost. Trims are for blend-able germanium diodes on Transistor boost and bias control on MOSFET boost

Build Reports / A couple more builds to share
June 16, 2014, 10:48:03 AM

"Orange Pre" 2 Gain Stages one Transistor w/ clipping and HP/LP filter toggle and the other a Mosfet Boost

Overdrive circuit w/ internal trims for EQ (sorry guys - really embarrassed at the guts on this but hopefully by posting this - the shame I am feeling will inspire me to just stop the next time I am hustling to try and get the build completed ASAP just so I can go to bed)

Build Reports / 1590 fuzz

Another bazz fuzz build in 1590a. Clear led and knob come across pretty nice no this one IMO.

Build Reports / Fuzz Tremelo
May 22, 2014, 11:46:34 AM
This was a fun build: bazz fuzz into STM tremelo. I don't have a finished gut shot but as you can see this was headed in a spagetti direction from early on....but alas its how it sounds right (who am I kidding)

Build Reports / My First 1590A Build
May 15, 2014, 07:50:05 AM
Figured I'd share my first 1590a build - I can see how people get addicted to these little builds. This is a Bazz Fuzz with bias control - I'm really happy how this turned out (other than the blem enclosure because i got all excied with a razor blade and the off-center logo which I will blame on ADHD)

General Questions / Light up pots
April 07, 2014, 02:13:12 PM
Can anyone here point me in the direction of where to obtain the pots with a led in the shaft that some people use with the clear knobs? I thought i saw them on this forum, but could have been a different one. Cheers

Build Reports / Pre-Amp for 5E3
March 26, 2014, 02:39:20 PM
Hey guys,

This is my first build report.....I want to take this opportunity to say thank you to everyone who is part of this amazing sub communty of audio electronics nerds like myself - special thanks to Austiz Ziltz @ Coldcraft for his help on the deluxe version.

I have been working on this for the past 7 months (I even shed blood for this thing - look under foiotswitch  :P )and am really happy with how it has turned out - it is a preamp pedal that I have designed to be paired with my fender tweed deluxe - as you can see I am also working on vox and marshall versions: the basic concept being that the circuit is designed to be paired with the specific corresponding amp - all of the design features (high pass filter value at input, transitor types / gain, diode types / orientation, notch filters, and looks of course) have been customed tuned to serve the respective amp archetype. I'm looking forward to finishing the other versions as well, luckily I have a friend who owns a recording studio so I have access to many different amps for testing :)

I also have created a "deluxe" version which has additional features like active Treb/Bass/Mids, an effects loop, and a 12AU7 clean blend. This one is designed as more of a add-on to the amp than a stomp box per-say, so the mode switch near the jacks switches from just a buffered signal with a variable high pass filter which is there tailored to suit single coils and humbuckers respectivly and then the active mode which incoportates the Gain/EQ/and Tube stages.
