G'day to all. It's been a while. I have been lurking about, but haven't built anything for a while. That's about to change, i've got a bass multi in the pipeline. Anyhow, back to topic, picked up a cheap, mint in box, never been used, DC2 yesterday, that sounds fantastic to me. Just wondering if this has been cloned at all, and for those who have used one, thoughts??? I reckon it sounds pretty awesome, in an 80's overused chorus kind of way  ;D. Take it easy, Matt.

May 04, 2015, 06:52:40 PM
;D I was Piffed a completed smd cornish buffer pcb? for Xmas and it never turned up. I didn't chase it up and put it down to bad luck, until yesterday, when the letter, complete with IC poking through the front of said letter, posted the 8th Dec from the US, PA (philadelphia)? , turned up at my house, Brisbane, Australia. The letter is Air Mail, and it only took 5 months to get here ;D. Tigermoth postal service maybe  ;) So, Aballen, thanks very much mate, all the best, Matt.

Open Discussion / First time recording in a studio
December 21, 2014, 10:32:54 PM
G'day to all, Matt here, i know it's not pedal related, but it was good fun and i thought i'd share anyhow  :)
Went into a studio yesterday for the first time and recorded 6 songs, for a demo for agents, to try and get some gigs.
This is one of them. It was recorded live as a band, with the vocals, one take, added after.
The engineer, told us he once spent two days to get the right snare sound for a band, so six songs in a day, was never going to be perfect, but good enough for what we wanted, and it was a blast to do.
Oh, and i'm the fat bald dude singing ;D
Enjoy, (hopefully)  ;)

Open Discussion / Line 6 DL4 issue, need help
August 26, 2014, 04:23:39 AM
G'day to all, Matt here. Picked up a very cheap, non working dl4 the other day. I've been googling the problems that they have and have replaced the zener diode and 4002's and the 1000 uf cap, reflowed all the solder and reseated the eprom chip. This seems to fix most problems, supposedly. Still not worky  :'( , so i was hoping that someone on here may have had issues/repaired or even heard about common problems, apart from what i mentioned that may be able to steer me in the right direction. Thanks in advance, Matt.

Build Reports / Etched Subtlety Drive
July 05, 2014, 09:48:01 PM
New laser printer= Attempt at etching  ;) I know that the knob is right in the middle of the bird, but i liked the picture  :) G'day to all, Matt here, with a JPGuitarworks,  shared osh park project, subtlety drive, thanks for that mate. I think that if you haven't built one of these, you should. It's built stock, using the suggested diodes/led's that were recommended. Very versatile with the 3 different clipping options, and they all sound great. Plays nicely with other pedals too. Here it is.....

Build Reports / The Squeeeeeze Box
May 27, 2014, 06:10:45 PM
G'day to all, Matt here, with my latest. An afterlife compressor, built stock. The inner teenager came out for the decal choice  ;) Who doesn't like semi naked women playing the accordian  ;D The paint is my attempt at a burst, lime green into yellow, looks good in the flesh, but hard to tell in the pictures. I've never really used a compressor in my setups before but i'm liking what it's doing to my sound, probably won't be the last compressor i build. I think i've been missing out, anyhow here she is,

April 04, 2014, 07:14:41 PM
G'day to all Matt here, and as the title suggests, i'm looking for some info on a canadian? Amp, with the brand name Clara.
It's a jtm45 clone, supposedly high quality, hand built amp made somewhere in Canada, Has anyone heard of them, or know much about them. I've done the google thing, but there is not a lot of info on them, thanks, Matt.

Open Discussion / Ego Driver part subs question.
March 25, 2014, 12:15:49 AM
G'day to all, Matt here, about to build up a fabbed Egodriver, and i'd like to hear from those that have built one they are happy with, and what mods, if any, or different pot values were used in the build. I've read alot of the tech help and build reports on these, and they seem to vary. Some people have volume issues, some don't, why is this so? tantalum/electrolytic?
Any advice appreciated, thanks.

Build Reports / Rams Head Pi and a SHO-GUN
March 20, 2014, 11:28:47 PM
G'day to all, Matt here, with a couple of newies. Two standard builds, a Mudbunny built to ram's head specs and a SHO, built with a shared osh park project by rullywow, thanks mate. My first build was a rams head mudbunny, a bit rough around the edges, so i thought i'd do another one, now that i've got some idea about what i'm doing  ;) For anyone looking for the lumberg jacks, contact Paul, Chromesphere, he has them. I used a real lumberg in the mudbunny and the knockoff in the SHO, i can't tell any difference, both good quality.
Anyhow, here you go

Build Reports / shiny valve caster
February 12, 2014, 09:51:25 PM
G'day to all, Matt here with my shiny valvecaster. Picked up some old valves with some other gear and thought i'd venture into the world of valve pedals, my first. I had a look at The Boobtube, but thought i'd keep the first one simple=ish ;) Polished the box, put a little mojo inside, old Sylvania tube?, any one heard of these? and kept my fingers crossed that it would work. Sounds really good with the strat, sounds like muddy shit with humbuggies  ;D Here she is.....

Open Discussion / DIY talkbox
February 11, 2014, 12:26:59 AM
G'day to all, Matt here, was browsing the forums and came across a post about a DIY talkbox, as in, bonjovi, peter frampton etc. Just wondering if anyone  has built one, has a link for some useful info about how to build one, or even if it's possible to DIY this. I haven't done any research as yet, just thought i'd put it out there. Something, that i'd probably never use, but............. ;D

Build Reports / Box 'o Fender, Azabache
February 07, 2014, 12:45:21 AM
G'day, to all Matt here with my latest, an Azabache, by runoffgroove, pcb layout by Ronan on DIY stompboxes. I haven't put it through it's paces yet, so i can't comment on what it sounds like, but the circuit itself gets rave reviews, so, here's hoping.
One thing i did learn on this build is that different branded j201/2n5457 have different pinout orientations :P An easy fix, but  we all know how it feels when it don't work :(
Anyhow, here she is

Open Discussion / Amp guru advice required
February 01, 2014, 02:19:18 AM
G'day to all, Matt here. Just picked up an old peavey session 400 amp for pocket change, that has some issues. I've done some googling and the replacement of old electrolytics could be the answer. I know that amps can kill, and you need to discharge the  caps on tube amps, and i plan on learning how to do this, but i was curious if the same applies to solid state amps, i'm suspecting that this is the case. If this is needed, can anybody recommend a site/youtube or reference material that will teach me how to do this. I'm about to do a little research, but we all know there is a pile of misinformation out there. Any and all advice greatly appreciated, thanks.

New Empty Amp and Cab Day  ;)
G'day to all, Matt here, Natural progression in action, built some pedals, now, need to build an amp or 3  ;D Just bought an empty amp head and 2x10 cab, refer pic, sweet/cheap, that was custom built to house a Ceriatone,Creme Brulee AC 15 knockoff. The guy i bought it off, had it rehoused in a combo, great sounding amp. A couple of questions, anybody had anything to do with Ceriatone Amps, and if not a Ceriatone, suggestions for something else. My clean needs are fairly well covered, so i'd like something that, takes pedals well and cranks. 10" speakers, recommendation for those also gladly accepted.

Build Reports / Uppercut and a pretty pink one
December 23, 2013, 03:26:18 PM
;) G'day to all, Matt here, with my latest builds. The first is a 1776 suckerpunch, built stock with 600ish HFE NOS 549's. Nice fuzz, sounds almost like a clean sound blended with a fuzz, good note definition. Polished, Enviro'd and sticker decaled but this will be the last time i use the dodgy decal paper i bought, as it seems to streak under the decal  :'(.
The next one is a Nautilus, painted a funkadelic pink colour  ;) sticker decaled and clear coated. I broke the cardinal rule with this one, got cocky and didn't rock before boxing, and guess what, didn't work!!!! I reflowed all the joints on the top of the board and changed the IC's, and, sigh of relief, it worked. Although i thought it was still not working properly in some settings, until i read old posts that said this was normal. Very touchy interactive knob control needed.
I've got to say thanks to Ben, Guitarmageddon, for the vactrols for this one, they arrived with some other free goodies that he threw in, cause he's obviously a great bloke, so thanks mate,
Have a safe and Merry Christmas Madbeaners,
And here they are
