How do I measure HFE of transistors for optimum fuzz effect performance?
I build, and once in a while I might sell, pedals as "Vertigo Effects".

Nevermind, I figured out the pin out of the transistor, and used on the corresponding part of my multimeter.

If its germanium, your multimeter hfe setting is not going to give accurate readings, it likely does not account for leakage. Theres instructions on geofex.com under "selecting transistors for a gain and leakage for a  fuzz face clone" on how to measure leakage.
