My good friend from Puerto Rico, George de Leon recorded a few demos in his studio for a few pedals I've made. They sounded great! So I figured I should share them with my peeps at madbean haha

Here's a link for them:

TS808 by generalguitargadgets.com
Cobra Compressor (MoRC project from guitarpcb.com)
Kriegsheld Flaum Fuzz (Mangler project from madbeanpedals.com)
White Rhino (Egodriver project from madbeanpedals.com)

Wow, that's great tone. I really like the work your friend is doing. It's not exactly a 'pedal demo' I'd say, but if your pedal is in there on some of the tracks, I really enjoyed the tone.

Yeah dude he's awesome...I went on a short vacation trip to PR and I met with him at his studio and since I had some of my pedals with me he recorded that for me...he's great!

Check out this recording he made for the Plexi Legacy:

Oops... The Plexi one was the one I meant when I talked about the 'not really a pedal demo' thing. I listened to these ones, and they were totally great pedal demos. But the one I really admired was the Plexi one.

I wonder if he'd do some demos for me - did it cost you anything? Or were those demos of pedals he bought/got from you?

:o woa the Ego driver I got secondhand of this board's forum doesn't have that much gain. I should take it apart and see why...

Great sounding demos! The slide stuff in that boneyard demo is so smooth

JakeFuzz

Damn that egodriver sounds good. Need to build me up one of those soon. What is the delay on the second to last passage of the compressor demo? It has cool modulation.

Absolutely, he lives in Puerto Rico though, and I know you live in Canada, so you guys could work that out? hehe He really didn't charge me for those clips (for which I am super thankful) He's been a good friend of mine for many years and he recorded those for me for free while he was testing my pedals. After the testing he loved the compressor (I'm currently building one for him). I'll talk with him about it and send you a PM...better yet, send me one reminding me cause I forget...haha

Yeah man! The Ego is my main overdrive right now. I changed a few things, but if I recall, I think it was only component types (mainly capacitors). You can check out what I did to it here on the Build Reports. Search for White Rhino. :)

I know dude! I love that pedal the most. My current pedalboard consists of all those pedals (Egodriver, 808, Comp, Fuzz), a tuner, volume pedal and a Nova Delay (which I will sell soon since I pre-ordered the Strymon Timeline).

The delay he used was the DD-20 :)

Thanks for the comments guys!

All these demos are fantastic! Especially the Plexi one! It's so thick and full sounding! I'm curious what amp he's using?
I'm glad you posted the MoRC, that's gonna be one of my next builds when I get some free time. Hopefully mine sounds as good as yours does!

Thanks man! He really did a great job with these for sure :P Man, I love the plexi one...my jaw dropped when he sent me that...and the feeling of "yeah, I built that pedal..."...priceless... haha

But I would think saying "yeah, I designed and built that pedal" would be a ridiculously great feeling...like giving birth or something...one day...I'm really thinking of sitting down and start designing stuff this year...it could be either a disaster or a masterpiece haha we'll see!

Dude, the MoRC sounds KILLER...that thing stands against a Keeley and gives a good fight...Mine is always ON haha I used to not play with a compressor and now I can't see myself playing without it. Build it! You won't regret it!

This is my build report on mine: http://www.madbeanpedals.com/forum/index.php?topic=1447.0

I somehow managed to put it into a 1590B but honestly, it's a bear hehe...I had to file down the pcb, bend components and stuff...you might try it, but try to use vertically short capacitors, otherwise they will get in the way...

I haven't even thought about fitting it yet, but I believe I bought a 1590BB for it. Your updated gut shots are amazing. That is some of the cleanest work I've seen. I kinda like how snug it fits in yours so we'll see when I get to that point. It is for someone else so if space is an issue for them I'll be left with no choice. I've never built a compressor but this may be the spark needed like you said. You already made me gas for the boneyard..  :-X
I hope you do get to designing. It's something I'd like to do in the future but probably a little farther on then yours. Time to get to studyin'

I just compared yours and mine...In your experience, does capacitor type/material really have an effect on sound? Also, I'm assuming you used a 1MA gain pot rather than a 500kA.

Even though everybody differs on this subject, I can honestly say it does (sometimes). I have built the Egodriver at least 5 times and none are one in the same. I continued to experiment with different types until I finally found this combination which to me was the best by far. I honestly can't remember if I used 1M or not, but I will find out this week for sure. I have to exchange the switches on it and I'll be re-wiring it to clean it up a bit. So I'll take a look and let u know ;)

Sweet demos! I just found two more I'll be adding to the list. I need to build a good fuzz pedal soon. Thanks for posting.
I should still be a "diode destroyer"!

Thanks man! The Mangler circuit is pretty fun :) I have a Zombii board and a Cosmo waiting for me...hehe

@jtn191 I rewired my White Rhino (Egodriver) and I looked at the Gain knob. You are correct, I did use a 1MA pot for it ;) Highly recommend it. I love that pedal.
