I'm building a pitch pirate type clone and I'm wondering which photocell I should get. I'm ordering from small bear.

Any suggestions?

Open Discussion / good polyfilm cap sources?
April 09, 2014, 04:35:41 AM
I love Tayda for their great prices, but I'm not a fan of their cap offerings - at least the non-polar polyfilm. I've usually got the grey box ones but whenever I need to order from small bear I always end up getting the polyfilm Panasonic caps.

Are there any source stores that offering good quality polyfilm caps for prices less than small bear? more in the Tayda price range, or a little more.

I'm used Smallbear and Tayda, primarily. I've used Mouser too but their website is always overwhelming for me, and I've made many mistakes in the past, ordering a part I thought was what I wanted only to find it wasn't. User error, yes.

Cool. Yeah I did everything like the diagram but no ground wire to the output jack.

Tech Help - Projects Page / 2 in 1 wiring question.
April 03, 2014, 05:10:34 AM
I have two circuits in one enclosure, with an In/Out jack.

My question is: do I wire the second circuit's footswitch the same as the first? Particularly regarding the grounded input? Since the second circuit is receiving its Input from the first circuits out/switch... I'm using the mad bean wiring diagram...

Is there a shot of the other side of the pencil? Maybe we can trace it and release it as a diy project!  :P

I might have to submit a FOIA request to get the schematic declassified and made public.

I was watching X-Files yesterday and there was a part where Mulder is talking about being spied on - him and Scully are on a hot case! (when aren't they).

Anyways. Scully is writing with a pen and she pulls it apart to replace the cartridge when it runs out of ink and she finds this device (pictured below). Kind of funny given that SMT parts had been around for sometime, I imagine the government would be using that for spying. Maybe the through-hole stuff just looked for interesting/believable to the viewer?

Anything you can think of or show that is from TV or a movie where this kind of exaggerated technology is used?

I was never into it too hard but I did have some phases of heavy building. What deterred me was being physically uncomfortable at my work table building for hours; hunched over, not being outside. I need to be outside.

That and I've been on a pedal downsizing only having a few pedals on my board. I realized I should build less/search for "that tone," and just play more guitar.

I also bought a 3 channel head so that stopped my OD/Distortion question - I built so many!!

I do have parts on the way to built a 2 in 1 Demeter Tremulator and EQD Hummingbird.

Death - black punk band from Detroit in the 70s

Ali Farka Toure

Tool - my favorite band when I was in my late teens. I discovered lots of other music and kind of went away from Tool but I've been listening to them a lot more lately.

I agree about the LEDs.

Ya the Pharaoh is a great pedal.

is there a build dock with pcb transfer?

I'm thinking of building a EQD Hummingbird. I like the speed and character (at least from the demos) of that term. I'm not sure if it can do more amp type tremolo sounds, however. It may just be better suited or stutters and work with gain.

What would be another trem circuit to build that would compliment it? I'd be making a 2 in 1. I'm not interested in the Cardinal trem. I heard demos and its not something I'm interested in. I'd like something that does mellow, trace-inducing pulses.

Are there pots, or variable resistors in other formats, that change their resistance depending upon the pressure/force put upon them? I'd like to make an expression pedal that reacts to foot pressure. I don't want to have a regular expression pedal on my board - its too big, and something like an expression wheel is a little difficult to control. Something small that I could press with my foot would be ideal.

Should  I get the F5 5% spray or the FL100 dropper which is 100%?
