blearyeyes, would be good to touch base.  You already know I dig the tracks you've been putting out and you've pushed me into learning some keyboard stuff.

Hoping to spend any and all vacation time there Jon, so we gotta make that happen!

Thanks Brian.  It's been a wild ride and most days I still enjoy the work so will hopefully keep my brains from turning to mush.  Repairs and pedals are a nice reset to the work week.

Nothing really pedal related here but after 66 years of living in the burbs I've made the transition to living in downtown Chicago (condo in the West Loop to be exact).  Upside is that I'm now 2.5 miles from work.  Downside is that my workbench is now 40 miles from home as opposed to 40 feet.  I do the repairs for a music store in Fox River Grove so they've graciously allowed me to move all my crap to their store.

I predict my output will be dramatically lower, but the upside is that I'll appreciate the time I get at the bench.  I've been doing a lot of guitar electronics lately and seem to be Marshall focused as well (lots of blowed up output transformers for some reason).

Was eyeing Orange County, CA as my next repair stomping ground but will have to put it off for a few years while I ride out revised retirement plans.  Subject to change at the drop of a hat of course.

Sucks to work, but good to be needed, so very little to complain about.

My profile is still showing the wrong name, although recently the picture has changed to me.

The only reason I started building amps was because I chopped up a 77 Marshall JMP 50 Master Volume.  I know, it would be worth a fortune and although it sounds better with it's Dan Torres mods it's basically worthless.  Still, this is one kickin 50 with tube fx loop, switchable master volumes, and extra gain stage.

Pedals are not so much.  I would ALWAYS recommend that a pedal of this vintage not be modded, but truth be told he's not going to retire on it so if he's good with violating it.  Have at it.

Cool gig, and if he's comfortable working with you it would be cool to feed the band some pedals too.  I got an overdrive, when I still had Laffing Dog Musical Instruments, over to Mark Knopfler and Charlie Sexton when Knopfler was supporting Bob Dylan thru their light guy.

I think it's a bit more like the Juno presets.  You don't have direct control of oscillators but can tweak the crap out of any preset and can run 4 at a time with individual effects on each.

New Guitar Synthesizer Day.  I picked up a Boss GM-800 with the GK-5 pickup and slapped in on my trusty tele.  Got some tweaking to do but am impressed with the tracking so far.  This is one of the stock pads called Piano Symphony.  Me getting all fancy and such on a tele but it's pretty crazy what this thing will do.  Added a touch of reverb.

Having had to replace a lot of rotted out Dimarzios over the years, including a pair in my own gear they were a means to an end in the 70's, I think they were a blessing back then. They have continued success even with the SD and new guy challenge.  I'm skeptical of the new wave of stuff and given that I'm a big fan of GFS I don't think my opinion counts.  I sound pretty good though.  Just sayin...

Dimarzio might have got it right thru the years.

I'm still hung up on the output blade on the jack being so close to the chassis.  Maybe it's just the photo but you're sure it isn't hitting the enclosure when you plug in?
