Global Annoucements / Re: Pre-order update

Me 3
Freekout
Lowrider
ZPDLX

I Can barely wait much longer! Very, very keen to build these.
Madbean PCBs are always so well done, great build docs etc.
I imagine it must take a lot of time and work to get it right.
Until then I will keep exercising my patience.....

Yeah sorry meant d8 and 9. Thanks for the answer.
I was building a Non Madbean PCB last week and it was the opposite to that (short leg to square pad).
i had to de solder and fix later.
It seems it might vary a bit depending on the Pcb.
All Madbean boards follow the same practise I assume (long leg to square pad).
Thanks again

Hi, I have a bit of a noob question I was hoping someone could help me with.
I am building the Sparklehorn need to know which way to orientate c8 and c9.
They are LEDs that are in the circuit.
Does the long or short leg of the LED go in the square pad?
Do all madbean Pcbs follow The same rule in regards to this?
Thanks for any help

Thanks for letting us know Brian, I have been checking for the preorders several times a day and it is certainly appreciated being kept in the loop.
The Freekout and Zero point DLX are the ones I am very keen for and its good to know the Freekout is all good. When do you think we might see the BOM for these? I have been holding off a Small Bear order till I know what I need for these projects.
Thanks again

Thanks for the update Brian,
I too have some $ away waiting for the pre-orders.
How did the sale go?
Hoping the boards I ordered arrive promptly!

General Questions / Re: Weener Transistors
April 08, 2015, 11:08:45 AM
Thanks lluke,
I will socket it, interesting you say it doesn't make a lot of difference in this circuit.
I will also socket the transistor in my old Crybaby and see what happens there.

General Questions / Weener Transistors
April 08, 2015, 08:45:26 AM
Hi all, I am currently building a weener wah with a few mojo bits and pieces and have a question regarding the Transistors.
In the previous version of the Weener a 2n3565 was in the BOM for Q1 and in the current version it has a 2n5088 for q1.
I have both in my parts bin but would like to use the 2n3565 as it fits the mojo theme.
Has anyone used both? Are they pretty much interchangeable with similar gains etc?
Any thoughts would be much welcomed, thank you.

I am hoping the BOM for the freekout is up soon so I can order anything I need with my next order of parts. Any idea when the new projects will be up?

General Questions / Component grades
March 02, 2015, 05:23:37 AM
Hi All, I have been building some pedals that require BC549c transistors (shark fin and Weener wah). tayda only has BC549b, I understand that they have less gain than the bc549c, are they generally OK to use?
It is the same with bc108 and bc109 transistors, only available in 'b' type from Tayda.
I am in Australia so don't order through smallbear etc often to save delivery fees.
Thanks

Steve, when I turn the trimpot it gives me the phase effect as I turn it.
I am getting sound when not turning the pot, just no phase effect. Thanks for your suggestion will try that

Tech Help - Projects Page / Stage fright

Hi all, I will start by saying what a great community this is and the help I have recieved has been fantastic so thanks a lot everyone.
I have built a stage fright phaser and I cannot get it to work for me.
When I turn the trimpot manually whilst a chord is ringing out the phaser works but only while I turn the trimpot.
The LED flashes in time with the speed knob as it should.
Does anyone have any ideas about what I have done wrong here?
Thanks again
Jules
