Quote from: madbean on August 21, 2025, 02:38:53 AMCouch guitar straps for me! I love mine but I dont know if they offer a padded version. I also have a Couch wallet and pick holder attached to my car keys. I'm a fan.

How about the dog leash?  ;D

I had to Google as I was not familiar. Lots of products actually. Looks good.

I ended buying from Red Monkey. I splurged but I did say it was for my birthday coming up.

I also bought some Rok Lok strap locks. Put them on my acoustic strap. Pretty convenient.

Quote from: TNblueshawk on July 29, 2025, 04:16:37 PMBrian, I don't think anything you have done or not done has caused any issues on this forum in terms of activity. In my view I developed relationships years ago with people here on line, and BYOC as well, and as the years have gone on people drop off for one reason or another and then over time discussions take a dip as a result. Then I look back and I think man it would be great to shoot the shit like the 'old' days with some people I used to. I don't know that you can control any of that really.

I was thinking about this last night. Whatever happened to Jon and Jacob? After the forum crashed a couple of times, I didn't see as much traffic here. BYOC didn't survive the plague of 2020, unfortunately.

Man, I just think life takes people down a different path and or they get bored with this hobby and work on another one I guess. I know some people stopped building and or playing over at BYOC. Some hit hard times.

Quote from: mauman on July 29, 2025, 11:23:45 PMLevy's Leathers has a great selection, and up to 4.5 inch widths.  +1 on a wide strap with a suede back, I don't think padding will help much.

So you are thinking the padding won't make much difference? I'm debating this and can't decide. I have more choices if I ditch the padding. I guess once I distribute the weight more with a wider strap it may accomplish what I hope.

Thanks for the info guys. Jimi, when I look in the mirror that strap is least of my concerns  :o

So I'm trying to 'learn' how to play standing up more. Never been in a band so I never bothered. That and when I'm tired as crap I'd rather sit and pick. But, I digress...

One issue I have is my left upper trap burns like a mofo. It's probably more a neck issue but whatever. With a birthday coming up I'm going to spring for very nice strap for the electric. What I'm looking for is leather with padding.

I've poked around on the webz and found some cool leather ones but they don't offer padding. Then I've found some padded ones but I'm not digging the strap much.

I'm all eyes and ears on any sites you guys might be familiar with or what you like/use as well.

I am more familiar with BYOC in this vein and in my view the newer people really didn't want to chat much. There seemed to be a different vibe/culture kind of thing and it really dipped into nothingville except for a few faithful's. I don't think Keith had anything to do with that over there either. As a result I didn't post as much.

Either way I am pulling for you to get your mojo back.

Just caught this thread. I am retiring next year around March'ish. That's good news enough. But when I do I plan to take guitar lessons again and try to play 2 hours every day.

I'm going to get out of the seasoned beginner stage if it kills me!

Then I plan to start building more amps just because I can.

Paul, I'm so sorry man. Like you said I know you will battle for your family so let that be your guide when shit is hitting the fan I'm assuming with chemo/rad. I sincerely wish you well.

Quote from: lars on April 16, 2025, 01:55:14 AMThere was a time when cryptocurrency wasn't considered "real money" because you couldn't loose it in your couch cushions. Aren't you glad you didn't invest? Those "idiots" who made millions off of it should have continued to hate on technology and I'm sure they regret the decision. They had no idea what they were excited about.

Dude I still don't understand it! I had a couple of guys explaining it to me and I kept asking questions and they kept answering them and I kept saying that doesn't really help or answer my question  ;D   Don't get me wrong. I know for a fact it's me. As soon as I can buy my 6 pack with some at Publix thought I'm in !!!

To this day I despise drum machines and will not purchase any music if I know in advance they are being used. The word 'soulless' comes to mind and you can hear the lack of it. I have never liked synth sounds. Hated it when I first heard it and hate it today. I suppose a disclaimer is that I tolerate it with some of the iconic folks, Stevie Wonder during his iconic 70's phase but still wish he would switch back to 'regular' keys in the middle of a song, Chick Corea etc... But I would never identify them as synth players when describing them. I guess my point is that while I agree we are on the extremes of emotions with this new tech I will go to my grave despising AI 'created music'. I know I can't stop it. I know it will do what it will do but at the end of the day none of that means I have to like it. I actually find it very sad.

For me there is no question AI will eventually destroy humanity over time. Hell civility has been getting destroyed presently and I equate the two on some level. When you lose one you lose the other. What I find is that some people embrace it as they are enamored with technology constantly moving forward and don't see the issue. Some just don't care one way or the other. Me, I care a hell of a lot but know that and $3 gets me a coffee so I just shrug my shoulders, keep doing what I'm doing (building analog stuff, buying CD's so an artist can at least get .50cents I guess) until I fade off into the sunset. I've always said for decades that because something is new it doesn't necessarily mean it's better. Regardless, I'll just keep plugging away enjoying my life.

But now it noisy as all get outs. Everything works but it sounds like the ocean as it modulates. Need to figure that out now.

Jimilee, my bad man. I said input/output jack but I meant what is the in/out on the PCB. My choices I guess are RTN SND.

I've got a dead pedal and it may be a ground issue.

General Questions / Fraudhacker - dumb question
March 16, 2025, 03:17:12 PM
I did not order the footswitch pad so my question is where do I connect the tips of the input/output jacks? The old board had in/out but not the new one.

Told you it was a dumb question  ::)
