Quote from: garfo on March 04, 2026, 10:25:13 PMBoth the Boss OC-2 and Pearl Octaver (Low Rider) have identical single Jfet input stages followed by an opamp gain stage.

The question is, are these single jfet inputs even necessary or are they a leftover from the original bypassing mechanism? It seems like the pedal should work exactly the same if the jfet stage was left out, or am I wrong?
Input buffers. They are usually skipped when building "replicas".

Global Annoucements / Re: Jan 2026 restocks

Quote from: madbean on March 04, 2026, 02:31:32 AMRight around March 10th or sooner. I've also got restocks coming at the same time including all the VFE projects. There's another 10 or so projects that will drop soon after that, too.
Woohoo!!!

General Questions / Re: Low Rider 2Sk30 pinout
February 26, 2026, 06:04:11 PM
Quote from: garfo on February 26, 2026, 04:14:24 PMWhat exactly is the Pinout on the 2sK30 transistors. On the Lowrider schematic the pinout is not specified. I understand that the bit with the arrow is the Gate but how do I know which one is the Drain and which one is the Source?

It says that we can use 2n5457 instead but they have different pinouts, right? How do we know which one is which?
I have attached an image with the section that shows these transistors.
Google 2n5457 pinout.

Quote from: jessenator on February 05, 2026, 07:56:40 PMSadly byoc has closed up shop. Had a final sale end of 2024. Don't recall the reasons.

I have a mbp Promenade in my build queue. I wonder of aleph null's Otolith could be optimized for bass (maybe just cap values?) That's a very versatile beast and can do super sludgy to punchy.
I think the BYOC schematics are linked  by someone over on pedalpcb.

hah I wish I was better with schematics! Hell if I were I'd cook up a sunn beta bass pre and be done with it lol
Here's a while thread on the Sun on FSB. There's a vero layout, on page 2. I don't read much past that.

Quote from: fair.child on January 27, 2026, 09:29:23 PMI found this one and started working on it

https://www.demedasheffects.com/blog/surface-detail-diy-analog-chorus

the Druid LFO is more PWM than sinewave LFO. I'm researching if I can make LFO sinewave that I can use rate control between 0.5Hz to 8Hz. By the way, this is the core of TSC.

There are two design considerations;

1. using MN3007 and MN3101 with +15V/-15V charge pump
2. using MN3207 and MN3102 with +9V
Very cool.

Quote from: Superstereosix on December 24, 2025, 10:40:49 PMI've been digging through some old not finished builds and came across the triton delay.. culturejam.
The tag board effects page refers to a document on what was the old message board.  Anybody have access to it?

I have the original build doc if you want to send me your email.

enjoy!

This is mapped to Bean's Standard Series 1590B, with control text spacing for 13mm and 19mm knobs. But feel free to give it a check.

edit: I should mention that it doesn't have any drill markers or labels for any potential tone bypass controls
Thank you sir.

Quote from: madbean on December 14, 2025, 03:40:08 AMThe true answer is that the original design from which all these came is the Jack Orman Mosfet Boost circa 2001.

In fact, if you Google  this text

Jack Orman Mosfet Boost

you will find a hidden portion of the mbp website!
Well of course I had to go check it out! Very cool bit of how the ol beanster got started.
