Quote from: jessenator on June 13, 2025, 11:04:06 PMFinally went camping with the kiddos. Everything was great, except the sleep part. Youngest and I share acute hearing and we just heard everything... apparently people don't seem to think "quiet time" includes their trailer generators  >:(

National Forest campgrounds are nice because it's not glamping but not primitive either. But they can get crowded, especially on Father's Day weekend. The one we went to is deceptively divided up into single sites and group sites. On a walk we found that there were a number of single sites on the group side, and no neighbors... oh well.

Like I said, it was great apart from actually sleeping. Next time we'll grab one of the more remote sites, or pick another campground. This one is nice because it's got lots of tree cover.

It was probably 50ish this morning, but rose to 80 quickly after the sun was up over the mountains. Only a little campfire. Have to go pillage some additional wood from my in-laws.

Which campground did you go to?

Very nice! Looks like you've been busy with some big bottom.

Cool, always like reading about circuit development.

So you have it set up so that when it's in bypass, you're using the dry signal?

Nice!

Really enjoy reading about the circuit development.

If I understand what you're trying to do, I think you would need an envelope detector or something similar.

You might want to take a look at Aleph Null's One Chip Pony circuit here:

Yeah, take a look at this:

Vin would come off of the output of an envelope detector.

You could put a pot/trimmer in series with the R resistors to adjust the threshold (with pin 2 going to the inverting input of the opamp), or even replace one or both resistors with a pot/trimmer.

Are you looking for something that is on/off, or something more gradual?

You could run the output of an envelope detector into a comparator if you want on/off.

Have you looked at the Seamoon Funk Machine?

It's got an envelope detector going into a transistor.

Nice! That's a really cool circuit.

I've always liked small boards in large enclosures.

How do you like the sound with the LFO going?

btw, when you first posted this, I don't think it showed up in my 'Unread Posts'?? Just thought I'd mention it, I don't know if others have had that happen.

Open Discussion / Pixelfed Image Hosting

I started using an image hosting platform called 'Pixelfed' and I thought I'd mention it here.

Pixelfed is free, open-source, and decentralized; no ads, no content manipulation algorithms, and no third party analytics or tracking.

You can take a look here:

https://pixelfed.org/
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pixelfed
https://thinglabs.io/what-is-pixelfed

I've been using it for a few months now, and I'm really happy with it.

Proof of concept:
