Open Discussion / Re: Prototype boards and small runs.

It looks like I will give JLC a try. I've heard good things but haven't tried them. I used to use elecrow which were great for larger runs but it took for ever to show up. This last time I used OSHpark but it seemed expensive and took longer than I remember.

It's also been a bit since I had to get anything from a fab house. Any tips for using JLC? Does it interstate better with different software?

I do not, I use JLCPCB. Way cheaper.

What is their turnaround time like? Are they USA based? Not that it really matters to me.

Hey all,
So I had the pleasure of ordering a set of proto boards from OSHpark recently. Still love them and they do offer a fantastic and quick service. I am wondering if any of you order from OSHpark still for the 3 board proto set. Is there another fab house that you use for this? Thanks everyone!

General Questions / Re: Discontinued Delay Projects

Yes, all the non DMM projects are getting discontinued. I have a new project that will replace all of them. It's a combo of a DM-2 with different clock and modulation, 550MS of delay and has stereo outs. It's much easier to build than the existing 1590BB projects. It's called the Anamorph and it's already done. Just need to order the boards. I have one other delay project that is similar to the above but only has one BBD and goes in a 125B. That one is straight DM-2 (to replace the Aquababy).
Cool! Love me some delay. Still need to build a BBD delay. These sound like they will be fun.

Glad you solved the issue. I've worked on lots of guitars and trouble shot SO many issues while working at fishman. Of course those were active pickups but I always follow the same 3 steps when I start.

- Check all grounding in guitar, even the bridge ground! Must have a bridge ground even with active electronics. Think of it as a safety net.

-Double and triple check switch wiring. Also do tap test and check coil tapping and other option if applicable

- Try a different test cable and amp...just in case. Then return step 1

Those seem pretty basic but most of the time I found the issue to be in the grounding or the optional wiring.

Also 5 way switches are the bane of my existence!! Lolz

Open Discussion / PCB Design on iPad
August 03, 2023, 07:26:20 AM
Hey guys,
As most know I've been out of the game for quite some time, I was wondering if you guys use any apps on a tablet (specifically on a iPad) to design PCBs. If not do you use an android tablet or web based software. Not that I'm gonna be pumping out boards but might be good to learn some new software due to Eagle's EOL coming at some point. Thanks in advance guys!

I'll check to see if I still have my working one. I still have the old zip file...somewhere and I should be able to figure out what mods I did. Sorry for the delay (haha) on this. Took a break for a while.

Welcome back Mike! Place wasn't the same without you  ;D

I've been slowing down myself with regards to building so, if you ever need anything... just gimme a shout!
Thanks bud! Sometimes it takes a lot of bad to see the good! Now that my twins are 2 years old and my daughter is 9 (I still remember posting her pictures here when she was born) I have a little more time on my hands.

I saw that you were looking for some parts in the BST. DM me if you still need them and what you need. I can take a look and see if I saved some from the disaster.

Good to hear from you. Thanks for the warm welcome back!

Shoot, Mike glad to see you back around the way. If you want to get more into the nuts and bolts side of things I have some reading material I can give you.
That would be MONUMENTAL! I would seriously be eternally grateful. I actually am putting the finishing touches on my proto rig I bought from you a long time ago! Can I send you something in return? Knobs, switches, a couple enclosures?

Hello all,
It's been a bit over a year since the plumbing accident at my house (which ruined almost all of my stuff). So I took a bit of time off and a break from the scene. Also in that time I lost my job and became a full time stay at home dad with my 2 year old twins and 9 year old daughter. I now seem to have a bit more time on my hands and...well, idle hands and all that. So, instead of continuing the hobby from a musicians eye (tendinitis in my left hand prevents me from playing guitar) I am focusing more on the development side of things. Which means learning how to properly breadboard. Which I am excited for. Anyways I want to say thanks to all of you for the support through out the years and I am looking forward to this new outlook. Thanks everyone. You'll be seeing more of me round here again.
