Quote from: madbean on November 27, 2024, 12:19:45 AMGoal was met and exceeded! Thanks, guys.

Jimi, keep us updated.
I sure will. First dialysis treatment was today, it's really helped. Hopefully we can keep going in this direction.

If this is too personal don't answer, but are both kidneys failing? I don't know very much about this.
Oh, no problem. Yes, she's had kidney disease for a while.  It's been a gradual thing.

Dude hang in there. Sad news for sure. Hope things keep moving in the right direction.

Those look great! Just like everyone else's post, my first three are rough. Mostly a mess of wires in portly drilled boxes covered in Sharpie.

Play them loudly!

Quote from: jimilee on July 22, 2024, 12:40:33 AMWoohoo!!! Enjoy. I just got back from my first vacation in about 5 years. Spent a week in Nashville.

I'm hurt :)
My apologies. I knew how busy you were, I didn't want to bother you.

Aww, no worries. I've bailed on you a couple of times. But, I will make time next chance you are in town. Our timeline for leaving TN appears to have moved up by a year so we gotta.

Where are you headed to Brian?

Digging the overhaul, good to have this little corner of the inter web back!

I was going to say the same thing, but I'm in Europe and out of town for a week, so it would be a good long while before it got to you.

That said you are welcome to it if you want it.

Was it Midwayfair who did a subjective diode listening test with various diodes in the Klon.  I can't find the page unfortunately.

Yeah, and then people bought out the ones that I said I liked, and claimed that they were the most accurate, even though they demonstrably weren't even remotely accurate to the Fv of a typical germanium diode, in a pedal that most people never use as a distortion. Goddamn I hate every fucking thing about this stupid pedal. There's got to be some way of finding that post on the forum, unless I removed it out of spite.

Knowing the Fv of a diode is completely useless unless you know you're using the the same meter as the person who measured it. Just socket the diodes and use your ears for the ones you like. Screw accuracy.

Of all the things I have read about the Klon this is my favorite!

When I started I just lent the headstock against a wardrobe door to amplify it.

Look for whatever you can find locally secondhand and sell it again when you leave?

I've thought about it but I think it really comes down to the fact that I enjoy building stuff and I think it would be cool to build him something.

I think I'll check out the TDA based amps and see if that would be a good fit.

Thanks all!!!

Thanks guys, I appreciate the input. I should maybe give a little more background. I'm trying to avoid buying an amp for about a year because where we live now we are on 220V, but next summer we'll be moving back to the states to 110V again. So I feel like buying something that won't work in a year would be a little bit of a waste. So building something small for now seems like the way to go.

I know that a little Ruby or something wouldn't have much volume on a bass, but we aren't looking for loud at the moment, just audible. We have a neighbor 10 feet above his room.

Right now he has been perfectly happy playing unplugged on my semi-hollow bass, but we just got him a solid body so he needs a bit of volume, or maybe a headphone amp. Plus he's really into Bad Religion ATM and I don't know that he minds if it isn't a perfectly clean sound  ;D

I'll figure something out.

Hi guys, been a while!

My 13 year old son just started playing bass and I'm looking for something like a Ruby to build him so he can plug in and not be too loud. Read mixed things about Bass with the Ruby that has the bassman mods.

Anyone have a suggestion for a little project? Something not to hard cause maybe I will get the boy to build it himself.

That is awesome Jimi! Congrats!!

The Bearhug is so great! Might need to build another one. Though, I fear this means 1776 is never coming back, which dashes my dreams of a new version of the multiplex.

Might need to build the trash compactor too.

If you're on a comp kick and thinking of doing another small board as a giveaway maybe you should do Mictester's Really Cheap Compressor. Built one on a whim a while back and it is shockingly good on my twelve string electric.
