Nice, I’d like to see more. I’ve asked around, and the OS2 was not very popular, but I’d like to judge for myself.

The OS-2 is amazing

maybe worth checking that out?

everyone needs a ring stinger in their life. the blend control is your best friend with it

looks like its gonna be a great project once the last gremlin is resolved.
The graphics are super slick too

Alanp and G_L, I seem to be obsessed with completing the "set" so I found the Ring Stinger and Wobulator over at Deadend FX.  I found the OEP1200 transformers over at Newark for the Wobulator.  Does anyone have any idea where I can find the LT44 transformers for the Ring Stinger in the US??

Looks like the Hammond 145P at 20k primary: 1k CT secondary might do the trick.  Most places have them for $22 each.  Ouch.  I don't even like ring modulators, I just like Lovetone stuff.

Do you like octave up fuzz? Its awesome for that too.
Does some crazy gated tremolo also.
Id say unless you go balls to the wall, the blend knob is a godsend and in that sense its a great "background texture machine"

nice to see some of the new ones in field

you should take some voltage readings on the LFO IC
It might be that its still "swinging" the voltage but you arent seeing that on the LED

Change the span controls to B1k, problem should go away.
If it doesnt, you have an issue somewhere else. Check all parts, with specific reference to the series resistors on the span controls (R27-32).

By now, this circuit is quite well characterised. The schematic hasnt changed in a meaningful way from the reverse engineer I did many years ago, and subsequently did a few runs of PCBs (at least a couple hundred, and I can count on one hand the number of replacements - all were user error, too).

Its absolutely normal for the indicated oscillation to be different in dual than single LFO mode as demonstrated by my vintage unit.

Nice looking enclosure by the way :)

You should try and video it like I did

Ps @op:  Nice build!!

Yeah you may be right however I was the first person to R/E the doppelgänger and the first person to do the B2K mod and I never felt that there was a “freezing” effect

I found that you got a bit more vowel like or even Wah type sounds which was pretty cool.

I suspect having the right LED and LDR combo is quite key here
Would be interesting to check the values and also that the 2ks are actually 2ks and not something bigger

Still, the B2K is a mod not the default or necesssarily recommended part

The single and dual modes are two different animals.
You have to take into account that the LF and HF filter pairs are modulated independantly in the dual mode and they dont sound the same on their own as when modulated together.

Here is my real one. You can see that in Dual Mode, the extent of modulation (at least, indicated by the panel LED, but we can rely on that as the internal LED act the same) is much less in the Dual LFO mode compared to the single LFO mode.

IF it is written that B2K is recommended...perhaps it shouldnt be. Thats a mod, and not how the original is.
Depending on what LED and LDRs people end up using, 2k might not be appropriate.
