General Questions / Dandy Horse - no output
September 07, 2020, 01:30:03 PM
Hey, back in business. I reflowed again all the components around ic2 and get a effected output now.. When I remove IC1 the voltage on pin7 is 6.8V. When I insert IC1 the voltage remains at 6.8V. Is that still too low a voltage or would it be ok?

I checked on the PIn 7 low voltage issue and I confirmed R5 and R6 are 47k and also reflowed the area, still getting around 2V on pin7.

I reflowed the area around IC2 and audio probed again, Checking the flow seems I’m not getting any output on pin 10 and 11 of IC2. I’ve swapped it out with the one I have in the aquaboy and Auquaboy works fine with v571. Also getting the expected voltages out of pin 10 and 11 but just  no audio....

Voltages por favor.
Hi,

Thank you for your help,

These are the voltages I've captured. Something doesn't look right on pin 7 of the v571.

General Questions / Re: Dandy Horse - no output

I audio probed and I've narrowed it down to around IC2.2, I don't get any output from pin 10,11. Going into IC2.2 I can hear the effected signal on pin 15/14, but no output on  pin 11/10. I tried swapping the v571 I had on the aqua boy build and same outcome, no signal and no output on test pad 6. Chip itself is good and it works in the aqua boy. I also wired up the 3pdt switch just to rule that out.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated?

General Questions / Dandy Horse - no output
September 06, 2020, 09:21:19 AM
Hi All,

I had just powered up my Dandy horse and it was going well, was able to bias and got a nice flange. All going good, had it running in the blend mode and then suddenly there was a lot of static. And now my effected signal has no output and only get the dry signal when I flip the blend switch. I checked everything, voltages all look good and I followed the biasing steps again, clock frequency is set correctly. But now I don't hear a signal on test Pad 6. I do hear a signal in test Pad 5. I'm connected SW1 and testing on a test box. So weird that it was working nicely and then boom...any help and advice would be appreciated

I spoke too soon, left it running for a while and suddenly got a whole bunch of static, now I don't get any sound on the output. Will start a new thread :(

Very nice man and congrats on the beautiful build. I've just finished biasing mine and it's working. Came to the forum for some tips and frequencies to bias it a little better and came across this post. This was a challenging build and I took my time over a few weeks to complete.

Scroll down, someone posted this for 2 different units
Hi

thanks for the information, this is very useful. My next build is the Dandy Horse echoflanger, the measurements on the site are very helpful. I think After that I'll retire from building anymore flangers!

Thanks again for your help

You can also jumper a 100k resistor across legs 2 and 3 of a B500K pot. Check out this link:

Hey Bio77, I went with the G500k, and the pedal is working now, I have calibrated it and getting a flange. Will need to find tune it a bit more.

I actually biased my current lover based on one of your post where you mentioned the frequencies, it was very helpful.

Did you also have a record of the frequency's expected when biasing the collosaluls? Would be very helpful to fine tune.

Thanks

Hi Danfrank,

Thank you for the advice, I manage to get a 9mm G500K on eBay which is suppose to be a C500K, but the turns are sort of staggered to 40 turns, will test this on the board and see if it works. Have also ordered a 16mm C500K if the G500K doesn't work out,

Thanks again for your advice

Hi All,

Need some advice on the Madbean Collosalus Flanger, i am finding it difficult to source a 9mm 500K reverse log Pot for the Sweep, and was wondering if a 9mm 500K linear pot could be used as a substitute.

Alternatively i was thinking of getting a 16mm C500K as an alternative with a small compromise on the aesthetics of the build :)

Appreciate any advice and guidance on this, thanks

Thanks Jimilee, I know what you mean about being over confident, it looked all fine via a visual inspection but you never know what's going on under the solder...thanks for the advice Mate. Now to box it.

General Questions / Greenbean - question on Volume
April 13, 2020, 11:55:04 PM
Reflowed the solder points again and now the volumes come up, it sounds good. Had to go over once and then again on the clipping switch.

Than you Alanp for the advice and guidance
