General Questions / Moodring regulator
September 16, 2014, 12:26:32 PM
Hi all.

I am about to make a Tayda order for the Moodring parts + some bibs and bobs.

The problem is they don' t have the LM78L05. Or that is they do, it´s just an smd ic. Guess that wont work.

Are there any other that will get the train in the station... As you say   ;)

Any help appreciated.

EDIT:
There are this little bugga:
http://www.taydaelectronics.com/l78l05acz-l78l05-78l05-5-volts-100ma-voltage-regulator-ic.html

This is the same as in the tenebrion. Is this it?

Tech Help - Projects Page / Chimaera not working.
August 24, 2014, 02:01:25 AM
I all. I posted this at the GC forum, but no response, so now I give the beaners a go :)

I jumped on the Chimaera when i heard that it was going to be discontinued, dispite of having build to Kingslayer and the Sunking II. I wanted to try out the findings over at BYOC. Cant get enough of dirt pedals :D

There has been a couple of things with this build:
First the gain pot didn' t work properly. There were clean signal but when I turn up the gain it cuts the signal. I have checked the pot and swapped C7 and C8. Both ways actually. I checked the diodes and couldn' t get a reading with my DMM(When someone writes DMM I always read Deluxe Memory Man  ). So I unsoldered the diodes and put sockets instead. That did not solve the problem, the diodes did work I have no idea why I couldn' t get a reading.

Now theres no sound, only motor boating/oscillation. I reflowed over some of the solder joints and noticed there seems to be a tracelift around the diodes. I don' t feel like I have used eccesive heat in removing the diodes, But apparantly enough.

Are there any way I can make the connection flow again after the lifted trace?

The board looks pretty scuffed up as I have been working on it a lot, quite abit more than usual, but I have attached some pics.

Thanks in advance :)

General Questions / Fatpants higher frequencies?
June 03, 2014, 02:15:06 PM
Hi all.

I have build the previous fatpants (just called fatpants:-)) and the fatpants 2013.

When i a/b them I notice that on the older one there are more high end harmonic content compared to the new one. And i really liked that on the older version. Its not like the 2013 one are dull and muffled, its just messing that 10% the first one have.

So my question is, which values are to be tweaked to regain some of the higher frequencies on the newer version?

Thanks in advance.

General Questions / First vero. Need help.
January 17, 2014, 07:34:12 AM
Hi.
I wanted to start build my first vero. I have only been building madbean, gcfx and byoc. So I set my eyes on this little sucker:

I searched for some off board wiring diagrams and found this:

From what i can see from the vero layout there are no output. Is this correct or a mistake? I have a strong suspicion that it here the error is.
I have connected the output from the off board diagram to the 0v ??? out. What´s the deal with a 0V. Is it just a wire thats suppose to dangle at send no volts? Or is it a ground?

Any help would be appreciated.

Ps.
I tried to throw the images in the post, but could not make it work. Sorry, they are attached.

Requests / Spring reverb?
April 16, 2013, 10:51:27 PM
Hi all (madbean in peticular).

Why isn't there anyone who is offering what the ggg stage center was. For those who don't it was a spring reverb with a real tank connected to the board, analog is you will. The best part is that the tank can be had for 18 $. But it's discontinued now, sadly.

But from what I can see there's not the biggest fuzz about producing one.

Madbean if you were to make one of these, you would be the only one and thereby having a complete market share(trying to lure you here;-))

Build Reports / First build report. The fatpants.
January 16, 2013, 01:47:41 PM
Hey guys, first build report here.

My first madbean project was the fatpants and its really something.
I have used a lot of money on a really, really nice amp and a good guitar. They do sound good together, but the fatpants make them sound even better and does something good for my od's.
I never thought I would have an always on effect, but I never turn off the fatpants.
Anyways pics:

General Questions / 1n34a transistor from mammoth
December 19, 2012, 01:37:42 PM
Hi all.
When I did my last mammoth order I bought me some 1n34a diodes.
Problem is I did not get any diodes as you normally see them. I got some transistors labeled .2N 4403 120.
I know there are some tricks to be done with trannies so they can be used as a diode. But have you experienced something like this before when ordering from mammoth?
I tried to google the .2N 4403 120 transistors and did not really find anything that links to the use of them as a diode. Do you know any tricks regarding these?
Could be a wrongie from mammoth I suppose.

General Questions / Kingslayer opamp question.
November 22, 2012, 11:35:25 AM
Hi guys.

Im about to make an order from mammoth to get the parts for the kingslayer.

My question is if I can use the TL074CN instead of the TL074? They dont have any of the other suggested op amps and this was as colse i could get from mammoth. It seems as if the TL074CN is an JFET op amp.

Here´s a link to the TL074CN:

Thanks for your help.

General Questions / Cherry bomb 200pf
November 04, 2012, 01:38:57 PM
Hi there.
I been lurking at the cherry bomb and think I'm gonna build one.

But I can't seem to find the 200pf (c4) anywhere.
Could I for a solution teepee two 100pf's together? Either silver micas or ceramics, where's the difference, if any, between the two?

Best,
Stig

Hi. I have build the game of thrones by culture jam. I have a problem with it.
When I put a jack fully in the input there's no sound, not even in bypass. BUT when I only put partially in there's sound both effected and bypass.
Really weird, hope you guys can help out.
Thanks.
