Build Reports / Barrel oí Pork
« on: July 08, 2020, 07:31:43 PM »
I just finished up a Porkbarrel for a buddy of mine and thought Iíd share.  I was planning on backfilling the reverse etch with black spray paint but I ended up liking the etch enough to leave it alone. I also left the mix control off but Iím definitely interested to try that sometime down the road.  Unfortunately, my stash if MN3007s just ran dry!

I was hoping to provide actual data but Iíd couldnít find anything in the data sheets either.  I can tell you for certain the 1550Bs Iíve purchased have noticeably thinner walls.

Iím not a big fan of the 125B so the 1550B is a pretty good alternative for PCBs that are a smidge wider than a 1590B.  However, 1550 series enclosures have thinner walls compared to the 1590 series, which is not ideal. Not a deal breaker for DIY, but Iíd be a little nervous to sell a pedal built in one.

The Retrograde 2019 build doc has a link to the 42TM022-RC via Mouser.  I tried to copy/paste below but Iím having trouble doing it with my phone.  Itís listed in the parts guide on page 4.

After.  Lately, I populate all resistors w/ PCB clamped in vice, top solder, flip, bottom solder, then snip.

Live the graphics Jimmilee! This reminds me that I need to buy an 18v adapter to see if all the ICs I replaced in mine actually did any good! Re: enclosures flying across the room: I havenít had that issue since I purchased a decent stepped drill bit.  Itís a real game changer.  It makes hand drilling a breeze! Iirc I went with an Irwin and itís going strong after 2-3 years of abuse.
No kidding? I bet you sooner have to change bits for the different holes too. How quickly do they wear out?

One bit will cover everything in a pedal and Iím still waiting to see how long they take to wear out after 2-3 years.
